Starting the coffee, surf, business, writing, life diary. And I’m just going to put it out here for the world I inhabit to see.
I’ve found over the last few months that writing is an activity I really enjoy. Yet another thing that goes so well with coffee – like, perhaps, surfing, traveling, family, life.
I’m on a pretty solid streak of writing, and have incorporated it into my daily routine.
But what does that have to do with a coffee diary?
Well, first of all, I tend to sit in a coffee shop and write. So, writing and coffee are the way I start each day.
Second of all, and that I’ll expand on in the next section, is that writing is essentially my business these days, and I’m quite satisfied with it.
I write for pleasure, for inspiration, for the habit of ‘creating before I consume’ and, well, for business.
With a newfound commitment to Twin Fin Coffee, I’m fitting in this writing habit about coffee and business, plus some good surf travel in there too.
Enjoy…
Twin Fin Coffee Journal
I’ll admit that I haven’t been showing Twin Fin too much love lately.
Between distraction, other work, it just lost some mojo despite the warm fuzzies that this little company brings me.
Most of all, I think the pandemic took some wind out of my sails as I was unable to travel.
I live in the surf mecca of Colorado, so without the ability to travel I felt a little disconnected from my surfing life which is usually a few solid trips a year.
But reflecting on this last year, trips to Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Mexico, Hawaii, and California really got me back in the groove.
Yes, it was an enviable year!
So it is with renewed intention that I recommit to Twin Fin. As you can see by the December date, I’m not waiting til Jan 1 to make a move.
Onward.
My Coffee Routine
Currently, I’m in a ‘dial back the caffeine’ place.
It just got out of hand. It was affecting my sleep.
So what does this look like?
For me, dialing back the caffeine means some tea, but mostly decaf. Luckily for me, I believe our Chicama Peruvian Decaf Coffee is the best decaf coffee I’ve ever had.
I recently wrote about how decaf coffee drinkers are always on the prowl for a good decaf. Well, I’m confident that Chicama is an excellent choice.
You can read more on why I think it is the best decaf coffee here.
Not All Decaf
This isn’t to say that it’s all decaf, all the time. Decaf just helps me drink less – probably half – the caffeine I was before.
Cutting out the late afternoon espresso is part of that journey as well.
The Boom + Pavones
Our regular coffee has been a mix of either The Boom Nicaraguan coffee or Pavones Costa Rican coffee.
These two Central American coffees are just super enjoyable. So that’s where we’re living.
